Several wedge-shaped blades of this species rise from a short stem connected to the holdfast, which is small and less than 1 cm in length. The blade margin is finely fibrous. The blade filaments are cylindrical, approximately 30-40 µm in diameter and dichotomously divided with constrictions at branching points. The apices of the filaments are round. This seaweed is found on rocks covered with sand in lower intertidal to subtidal zones along calm shorelines and in tidal pools.
