The successive whorls of short, red filaments are arranged along the entire lengths of the branches of this species. The branches are cylindrical and orange in color, regularly dichotomous with obtuse apical portions. This seaweed forms hemispherical clumps on rocks in subtidal zones along shorelines where there is moderate to strong water movement.
