The plants have terete branches that are irregularly divaricate, tapering towards the tips, bearing spirally arranged branchlets throughout. The apical portions of branchlets have 3-5 acuminate projections. This seaweed is found on rocks or gravel in subtidal zones along calm to moderately wave exposed shorelines.
