Since 2004, we have been developing co-culture of giant tiger prawns and Cladophoraceae species suitable for small-scale shrimp farmers. We do not discard these seaweeds, and instead purposely let them flourish in the shrimp cultivation pond. These plants possess high nutrient uptake capabilities. The shrimp proactively feed on these seaweeds even when ample artificial shrimp feed is administered. Also these seaweeds are euryhaline and flourish throughout the year, so it is possible to utilize them in a wide range of shrimp pond salinity environments in Southeast Asia.
