On May 20, 2025, the RiceGX-SATREPS Project held its 4th Farmers Workshop in Pursat Province to establish Cambodia’s first Farmers Water User Sub-Group (FWUSG) under the existing FWUC framework. The purpose of this workshop was to elect board members (one leader, two sub-leaders and one treasurer) for the establishment of the FWUSG. The workshop was attended by 33 participants, including local farmers, village and commune leaders and officials from PDWRAM, RUA and Project members. Six candidates were nominated - two farmers each recommended by the village leaders of the three villages where project-targeted farmers reside - and through voting, board members elected. With the elected board members at the core, the project will work to establish the FWUSG, which will play a crucial role in reducing methane emissions through intermittent irrigation.
