Analysis and Modeling of Water Balance in the Inter-Connected Tank Irrigation Systems in Sri Lanka

Country
Sri Lanka

Description

[Synopsis]

Inter-connected tank irrigation systems had been developed in the dry zone of Sri Lanka. However, excessive exploitation of small reservoirs (tanks) resulted in the disturbance of Water use within the watersheds. The Government of Sri Lanka has been promoting a tank rehabilitation project overcome this problem. Water balance was analyzed and a water balance model for inter-connected tank irrigation systems was constructed to promote the rehabilitation project.
