PNAS "Cozzarelli Prize" for BNI-enabled wheat paper

The paper published in collaboration with a group from Japan International Research Center for Agricultural Sciences (JIRCAS), International Maize and Wheat Improvement Center (CIMMYT), University of the Basque Country and Nihon University, was selected to receive the Cozzarelli Prize by the editorial board of the PNAS. The research uncovered a genomic segment in Leymus racemosus controlling BNI, and transferred the segment holding BNI into high-yielding wheat varieties.

The Cozzarelli Prize were chosen from more than 3,500 research articles that appeared in the PNAS last year and represent the six broadly defined disciplines. BNI-enabled wheat paper was awarded in Class VI: Applied Biological, Agricultural, and Environmental Sciences.

The award ceremony will be held online on May 1, 2022 (EST), and PNAS will provide 2-3min video about BNI-enabled wheat.
