Ishigaki City has been promoting the revitalization of traditional springs and wells around residential areas as familiar waterfront spaces through the "Machinaka Shinsui Hiroba (Town Water Plaza) Development Project". Nataji-ka in Arakawa area was also developed not only as a water plaza but as an emergency water source, and a well water pumping ceremony was held on April 22, 2014.
