While the "Toomidai" (observatory) in Hirakubo and Kabira were designated as national monuments (historic sites) in 2007, the "Bitchu-muri" (a kind of observatory) in Shiraho was not, probably due to a lack of supporting historical documents. The "Toomidai" in the Nagura Tourist Park and on the west side of Banna Park were recently built as tourist facilities.
