This 2.4m-high monument, which is made of diorite, was created in Taiwan to honor the Taiwanese settlers who introduced the pineapple industry and the buffalo, which brought technological innovation to Yaeyama's agriculture in the 1930s. The unveiling ceremony was held on August 10, 2012 at the car park of the Nagura Dam.
