The catchphrase for the dam is "Nagura Dam supporting crop growth and nurtured by the Water God of rich harvest with favorable rain"(phrase originally in Japanese).
It is the westernmost dam in Japan. It supplies water to agricultural lands in the southwestern part of Ishigaki Island, alleviating drought damage, increasing crop yields, and stabilizing agricultural management. The photo was taken from the observatory next to the Nagura Dam.
