The Minister of State for Okinawa and Northern Territories Affairs, Mr. Mitsuhiro Miyakoshi visited the Tropical Agriculture Research Front (TARF) on December 16, 2018.

JIRCAS at the University of Tsukuba “Soho Festival”

The University of Tsukuba held the annual “Soho Festival” on November 3-4, 2018 and JIRCAS participated with poster panels introducing various research activities on pest control, Asian biomass, utilization of agricultural and mountain village resources.

The 46th TARF Public Lecture with the theme “Manipulating the biological clock for improvement of rice cultivars” was held on December 4, 2018 at Ishigaki City, Okinawa Pref.

ScienceQ at Kurihara Elementary School

In conjunction with the ScienceQ program of Tsukuba Science City, Dr. Kotaro Maeno, Researcher of the Crop Livestock and Environment Division gave an on-site lesson to pupils of Kurihara Elementary School on January 17, 2019.

In conjunction with the Science Q program of Tsukuba Science City, Dr. Kouki Maeda, Senior Researcher of the Crop Livestock and Environment Division gave an on-site lesson to Grade 6 pupils of Katsuragi Elementary School on January 31, 2019.
