The Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office in Japan, Ms. HIBI Eriko, and Senior Advisor MITSUGI Hiroto visited JIRCAS on April 16, 2021 and exchanged opinions on strengthening cooperation with President KOYAMA Osamu and JIRCAS Special Advisor Dr. IWANAGA Masa.

The Director of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Liaison Office in Japan, Ms. HIBI Eriko, and Senior Advisor MITSUGI Hiroto visited JIRCAS on April 16, 2021 and exchanged opinions on strengthening cooperation with President KOYAMA Osamu and JIRCAS Special Advisor Dr. IWANAGA Masa.

Director Hibi talked about the efforts of FAO to expand its activity portfolio by strengthening partnerships in each country, and that the general public must be provided with an opportunity to understand the role of FAO and related organizations as a group of experts in solving international agricultural problems. Senior Advisor Mitsugi also emphasized the importance of dialogue and collaboration between related organizations to connect scientific knowledge and policies towards pursuing ambitious goals that include achieving SDGs in 2030 and carbon neutrality in 2050.

At the meeting, FAO and JIRCAS agreed to strengthen cooperation through various activities, including the dissemination of information on global issues on food and the environment.
